PROJECT OBJECTIVE
Overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan, the Wild Wood residence was designed as a luxurious cabin-style retreat that balances rustic warmth with refined craftsmanship. Built as a new home construction, this 11,000-square-foot masterpiece captures the serenity of its natural surroundings while offering the rich, inviting atmosphere of a luxurious cabin. Engerman Contracting worked closely with the homeowners to create a one-of-a-kind residence that reflects their love for timeless materials, handcrafted details, and spaces designed for gathering and entertaining.
HIGHLIGHT FEATURES
This extraordinary custom cabin blends rustic charm with sophisticated design. The home features a glass-enclosed wine room, a hand-crafted wood bar, and a library wrapped in rich leather wall panels with a hidden door, creating spaces that are both intimate and impressive. An octagon-shaped screened porch expands the living area outdoors and includes a stone fireplace and pizza oven, making it ideal for cozy lakeside gatherings. Throughout the home, natural materials such as cedar wall cladding, exposed beams, and stone flooring are complemented by custom closets and other personalized touches, highlighting Engerman Contracting’s dedication to unparalleled craftsmanship and detail.
Challenges & Solutions
Constructing this home during a harsh Wisconsin winter brought significant challenges, particularly during the concrete and framing phases. In addition, the project’s remote location, two and a half hours north of Engerman Contracting’s base, required precise planning and coordination to ensure consistent quality and progress. Through meticulous scheduling and hands-on project management, Engerman’s team overcame each challenge to deliver a home that stands as a true testament to craftsmanship and perseverance.
